n began there was significant debate regarding the formation of New England’s defensive line. Bill Belichick’s defense had struggled to get any pressure on the quarterback in recent years, so an overhaul seemed likely. The club signed Andre Carter and Mark Anderson in the offseason to bolster their pass rush leaving many to assume that the 4-3 would take center stage. That switch did occur, but an injury to Carter late in the season put Patriot fans in a worry. Luckily Anderson has stepped right in at the right defensive end position to fill the void. Wait, I’m sorry. Have I talked this long about the Patriot line without mentioning Vince Wilfork? Yikes. At 325 pounds (listed), Wilfork is a dominant tackle in the middle of that Boston defense. He stuffs the run or frees up linebackers by absorbing at least two blockers on every snap. He can get in opposing quarterbacks’ grill where they hate it most: right up the middle. He’s a massive problem for any offense’s blocking schemes.

Perhaps a half, but anything beyond that would be foolish. Bill Belichick's Pats aren't playing for anything other than the 3 or 4 seed, so unless they prefer to play San Diego I don't envision more than a half for Brady, Welker and Moss. Houston should get the win unless Belichick has a second coach-fart this season.

It was a crazy week 14 in the NFL, book-ended by division upsets on Thursday and Monday night. While the playoff picture is coming into focus, we still have loads of drama in the NFC East and two undefeated teams with their eyes set on the Lombardi Trophy. The Final Drive starts now!

But Bill Belichick’s idiotic call to go for it on fourth and 2 from his own 29 was too much of a gift for Manning to send away! That just says “My defense won’t stop them from 70 yards out so I might as well only give him 30 yards. Maybe I’ll get the ball back quicker.”

Drama! The Patriots’ former QB coach and O-Coordinator Josh McDaniels welcomes his mentor Bill Belichick into Mile-High for an AFC showdown that could place his Broncos among the conference’s elite. Against Tom Brady and the Patriots offense, Denver’s defense will meet its biggest challenge so far this season. Without running back Fred Taylor, the Patriots will struggle on the ground, forcing Brady to air it out against Brian Dawkins, Champ Bailey, and the Denver secondary. Lucky for him he has Randy Moss and Wes Welker as receivers. This is without question the game of the weekend.

retirement, the Patriots defense will continue to get younger, which can only mean good things for Bill Belichick's squad.

-Did anyone else think Mangini and New England’s Bill Belichick were in a spitting contest to see who could pull off the most deals? Cleveland traded down in the first round three times and New England traded down and then traded back up. (The Patriots made four second round selections. That’s right, four.)

Each week, on Friday, I will look into my (never wrong, just misinformed) crystal ball and give my predictions for that weekend games. I will always prognosticate on the Eagles and Cowboys games and then pick two more games of interest (to me, that is, not necessarily to you). Keep in mind, that this is for entertainment purposes only, and that I do not endorse any sort of legal or illegal gambling. That being said…let’s see what’s in my crystal ball!

Yesterday, the Cowboys got their collective butts kicked at the Meadowlands by the G-Men. There is plenty of blame to go around for sure. But, did we not expect this? Wasn’t it obvious (it was to me… read more here) that the ‘Boys had no shot at winning this game? Everyone knew it…the coaches…even the players!

The crystal ball was one up and three down for the week. That puts me 6 games under .500 for the season…not good…more like awful! The crystal ball was told it was going to be on a short leash…now it’s getting the hook. Hey…if head coaches can be fired in mid-season…well…so can the crystal ball! I will have a new crystal ball for next week…we’ll see if it can do a better job prognosticating than its predecessor? Let’s take a look back and see what happened this past week:

One – have a Coach that is considered top 10 in the league like Bill Belichick, Dick Vermeil, Bill Parcells, Tony Dungy, Jimmy Johnson, Bill Walsh, etc. Two - have a quarterback that is in the top 5 in the league – Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Kurt Warner, Steve Young, Troy Aikman, Joe Montana, etc. Three - have a top 5, dominating defense.-the Bucanneers, the Ravens, the Steelers. Now, if you have two or three of these things then you are well on your way. If you don’t have any, well – you get better on defense, get a better quarterback, and/or get a better coach. Why do you think that the league was so engaged in the Bret Farve saga that ratings even went down on “As the World Turns” during the summer? Or why did the Kansas City Chiefs take a flyer on often injured Joe Montana (oh yeah-they made it to the playoffs didn’t they). Why do you think that people like Parcells and Bill Cowher, and retreads like Joe Gibbs and Dick Vermeil are courted like Queen Guinevere in a short skirt? This is how you create the culture that other franchises have and the Houston Texans don’t.

vis fired Lane Kiffin. Al Davis is the “Village Idiot”!
*Al Davis accused Bill Belichick and the Patriots of “tampering” with Randy Moss prior to their trade for a 4th round pick last year. Davis is still the “Village Idiot” and the Patriots and Belichick are still CHEATERS!

Bill Belichick, Head Coach of the New England Patriots, was accused by Al Davis of “tampering” with Randy Moss prior to their trade a year ago. The Raiders received a 4th round pick as compensation in the deal. Davis alleges that the Patriots had a secret workout with Moss prior to the negotiations, which would violate NFL rules. Bill (here’s a surprise) denies the accusation.
